This year, we received 160 session proposals — up from 126 last year and 144 the year before. The interest keeps growing, and we’re thrilled to see so many wanting to share their knowledge with our community.
As always, we started by reviewing all submissions for relevance. Some proposals are simply not the right fit — too introductory, too far away from Power BI, or missing the key point that while we welcome Microsoft Fabric-related topics, Power BI must be included. After this initial review, we filtered out 33 out-of-scope sessions.
With the remaining sessions, we’re now moving into evaluation mode.
How we evaluate sessions
We use a comparison-based method, similar to ELO rating systems from chess. But instead of rating sessions with a fixed score, our reviewers continuously compare three sessions at a time, ranking them from strongest to weakest.
If a reviewer feels particularly strongly about a session — whether they love it, dislike it, or simply have no opinion at all — they can use a “Strong Opinion” option to reflect that. This helps ensure a more nuanced and fair evaluation, avoiding rating inflation and providing a solid, ranked list of all submissions.
To ensure diverse perspectives, we’ve brought in a fantastic team of reviewers. They have 5 days to complete their evaluations, and as a thank-you, they’ll receive a free conference ticket. A huge thank you to:
- Lasse Jørgensen
- Tine Hejgaard Sørensen
- Yulia Kraynova
- Sigridur Erla Fridgeirsdottir
- M. Bilal Khan
The hard part comes next
With only 18 available slots, the selection process is highly competitive. But it’s not just about being top-ranked. We also look at:
- Audience fit
- Topics & tags
- Expertise level
- Abstract quality
- Diversity in speakers and content
- Supporting 1-2 newer Danish speakers to give fresh voices a platform
No speaker gets more than one slot, and we aim to build a strong, balanced agenda for our intermediate and advanced-level audience.
What’s next?
- Selection starts May 21st
- Acceptance emails go out May 23rd
- A few sessions will be placed on a waitlist in case any spots open up
It’s a tough but rewarding puzzle to solve — and after many years of experience, we’re ready.
